You can also access our primer on what the world was like in 1894 by clicking right here. This article can give you a nice snapshot of some of what was going on the world at the time of this edition of Amerikán Národní Kalendář.
This article, never before translated to English features a total of six, yes six, wonderful biographies of early Czech settlers from across the United States.
As you may know it is difficult to locate these rare extant copies of Amerikán Národní Kalendář and we are very lucky to have been able to begin our process of translating them for the non-Czech speaking/reading audience of Czech genealogy and family history fans. It is such a wonderful thing that the publisher and editors of this annual Czech-American journal had the foresight to collect these first-person accounts!
We are incredibly thankful to our partner, Katka Tomcova, for her partnership with this translation.
Now, just so you don’t miss it, just click here and read this wonderful article in its entirety as a pdf.
Thanks and enjoy going
