Here it comes! The unique Cleveland Czech Project is almost done! It’s on the way!
As you may recall, Onward To Our Past® Genealogy and Family History Services has been hard at work translating the original 1894 work by Hugo Chotek. Titled Ceska osada a jeji spolkovy zivot v Cleveland, Ohio v Severni Americe. Vydano Cechy Clevelandskymi za obdbyvani Narodopisne vystavy v Praze roku 1895, Volnost 1895, this work covers over 190 pages and includes hundreds of names of the earliest Czech immigrants and settlers in the Cleveland, Ohio area. A rare document, it has, before now, only been available in the original Czech.
Never before available in English …. coming here …. coming for FREE …. and just for you genealogy and family history fans!
Our partner in this extraordinary undertaking is a phenomenal translation team at KENAX Translation Agency under the guidance of Karel Kosman, owner. Karel, a native Czech speaker has been overseeing the efforts of KENAX on our project and I am pleased to say we are well on our way to finishing this exciting and exceptional project!
While the final proofreading and final touches are being put on the project, Karel has agreed that we can start to put up sections of this awesome work as translated into English! So very soon we will be beginning our postings of sections each day! How exciting is that? VERY exciting I’d say!
Literally hundreds and hundreds of surnames of the earliest Czechs in Cleveland, Ohio are going to be posted here for you to read. Hard not to be excited if you are a genealogy buff or local history fan of Cleveland, Ohio!
We are almost done — just like this torta della Nonna!
So ….. very soon we will post our first installment!
As they say …. watch this space!
