A tiny portion of the gorgeous Library in Prague!

Sometimes you just get lucky, or more likely sometimes your hard work results in a bit of luck coming your way.  This was the case as we discovered in finding the last of the missing editions of the 79-year publishing run of the priceless Czech-American annual journal, Amerikán Národní Kalendář! If you missed that story you can simply click here and read it!

As you know now, the 1890 edition of Amerikán Národní Kalendář was missing for a long, long time, until it was rediscovered in the holdings of the Library of the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African, and American Cultures.

Not only did we learn of the existance of a copy of 1890, but their is even greater news!  The director of the Library, Dr. Michaela Tydlitátová, was kind enough to take the time and digitally reproduce the entire 1890 edition!  Over 200 pages of wonderful Czech-American material and we couldn’t be happier!

However, as the old TV infomercial used to say ‘that’s not all!’

Dr. Tydlitátová just sent us a 19 page document, which lists all of the Czech-American periodical resources the Library holds!  Yes, you read that right!  NINETEEN PAGES!  The form lists the publication, then a translation of the title (if the original title is in English, they provide the Czech translation), year or years they hold, location at which the publication was printed, which is usually city and state, a section for any pertinent notes, and finally (and we love this one) whether or not the item has been digitally preserved!

Dr, Tydlitátová has agreed we can present this Czech-American segment of their holdings catalog right here online.  So enjoy…it is right below!

There are some truly fabulous holdings here and how wonderful it is to have this information to share right here with our fans and readers!

With a special thank-you and a tip of our cap to Dr. Tydlitátová and the Library, we say enjoy this amazing resource!
