Good day everyone and TGIF! Always nice to have it be a Friday!
Yesterday I got the news that I have been chosen as a Blogger of Honor for the Family History Expo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! Also for the Expo in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the Midwest Expo in Kearney, Nebraska.
A Blogger of Honor is an official blogger for the Family History Expos (http://www.familyhistoryexpos.com)
I thought I would highlight a bit about the upcoming event in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
First, it is scheduled for a full day of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on April 11,2012.
Second, the location is the Oklahoma Historical Society (800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma). This location is a treat all by itself as the Oklahoma Historical Society is awesome even without this exceptional event.
You can check out the Oklahoma Historical Society at http://www.okhistory.org.
Third, a power-packed day of some very good presentations that you will not find everywhere else!
Eight presenters offering a total of 11 sessions, plus and exhibit hall time, which is always can be fun all by itself!
I like all of the topics, but I love the idea of one of Tom Underhill’s sessions “1o Techniques to Improve Your Digital Photography” and am super excited about the sessions by Billy Dubois Edgington titled “The Miller Roll Application: A Source for Cherokee & Southern History” and “Deeds and Land Records”. Billy is a great presenter and an amazing fount of knowledge.
The full agenda can be found at http://www.familyhistoryexpos.com/viewagenda.aspx?eid=548&past=0.
This should be a wonderful learning opportunity!
Come on out to Oklahoma City, take in the Expo, then take some time at the Oklahoma Historical Museum — and maybe hang around for something personal and fun! Hey, I am taking a day and hitting Yukon, Oklahoma, ‘The Czech Capitol of Oklahoma’ to thank a researcher who really helped me out with some family work awhile back. I can say from personal experience the Canadian County Oklahoma Genealogical Society is terrific (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~okccgs/).
Have a great day and TGIF!
