Today we have my final Genealogy Strategic Plan Goal – Communicate on a regular and frequent basis.
I can hear the cheering from here! Yes, I am almost done with my tips for your Genealogy Strategic Plan, so here is the last one!
In order to capture the interest or build the interest in your genealogy work by those who are not as enamored of this wonderful undertaking as you and I are, I suggest that it is important to communicate with your family member audience on a regular and frequent basis.
Not everything we do will capture our readers’ attention. Not everyone loves each piece of data or informational find as much as we do, BUT there will be things that each reader might find interesting from time to time.So communicate often and communicate regularly. I have heard from my family that they look forward to my weekly Your Family Update. When asked they say that they always read it to see what names are in it, what story, or historic event mentioned. They may not like or be attracted to them all, but they said often they get hooked on something in the Update. SUCCESS! That is all I want to do …. get them hooked in some small way! The rest will come! The excitement will build. The questions and comments will begin!
So …. keep communicating. Do it on a regular schedule (I do mine early Saturday mornings) and do it regularly. I do mine each and every week.
Draw them in …. as in most things in life (other than perhaps political election cycles) we can never communicate too much!
