Toad-in-the-Hole: A Phillipps Family Favorite
I know it has been awhile since I have posted a family recipe here, so here we go!
This one takes me back to my childhood in Ohio and was one of my favorites. My mom would also always agree to it since it was a simpler meal and one that everyone enjoyed!
So here we go …. “Toad-in-the-hole á la Laverne”
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 pound small sausages
1 egg
1 cup whole milk
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
INSTRUCTIONS:
Beat together egg, milk, flour and baking powder.
Grease medium oblong casserole pan
Pour in mixture
Place sausages on top of mixture and press in, slightly
Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until golden brown,
SERVING SUGGESTION:
Boil quartered potatoes, drain, cover with a sauce 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1/3 cup whole milk, and chives.
We always served this with Brussels sprouts, but any green vegetable will compliment the dish just fine.
See, nice and easy!
There you go! Yep, a nice homecooked dinner and easy meal!
Here’s to family dinners!
Onward To Our Past®,
Scott
