Today’s Tip is Goal #4 — Be Expansive and Include ALL Branches of the Family
When I began my genealogical adventure, I was pretty focused on my blood line. Then I started to listen to my family members when we spoke about family history and genealogy. They spoke with equal passion about both branches of the family. They were just as interested in the mother of their Aunt as they were the mother of their father’s cousin. They wanted to know what I knew about the whole family. The real family!
So right then and there I changed my focus and became keen on including all of the family in the tree! What a joy that has turned out to be! Pure joy! Lots more work, but joyful work!
This expansiveness resulted in far more involvement by family. Increased the activity on the site and has raised the excitement level of the family history in general much, much higher!
Plus everyone feels an equal part! A crucial feeling for participation, care, and concern! It has increased the learning for many of the younger family members as well — a very good side effect!
So, be expansive and work every limb of every branch!
It is worth it!
