Today’s Tip: Remember, we all have our idiosyncrasies!
As we gather for the holidays, it is sometimes too easy to get caught up in gossip, innuendo, and being irritated by ‘Uncle Amos’ and the way he gnashes his teeth or what he has to say about the younger generation, or maybe even both.
As I have always said to my children, ‘Remember, we all have our idiosyncrasies. Some folks will think what we do is nuts too.’
As family historians we need to try and keep the lines of communication open and the family members talking for us to record, listen, question, and learn from them for the good of our histories and our families.
So …. as you gather …. try and overlook the peccadilloes and the barbs, the gossip and the garbage …. and keep the family going!
It is not always easy …. but it can pay dividends, especially at this time of year!
Merry Christmas Eve Eve Day!
