Today’s Tip: Celebrate your victories!
Yesterday I heard from a friend who had found a tiny bit of information. The big news was that they had been searching for this tidbit for years and years!
I asked her what she was going to do to celebrate her find. She responded, ‘Celebrate? No, I don’t celebrate.’
I said that she needed to remember to celebrate each and every victory that she achieves no matter how big, no matter how small, no matter how difficult, no matter how easy. Just celebrate!
It got me to thinking that all too often we get so wrapped up in our work and our next goal that we do not take the necessary time to celebrate our victories. And we must celebrate!
It is the celebrating that reinvigorates us. Gets our batteries charged up. Puts a smile on our face and moves us forward.
My celebration is a bit bizarre, but when I have a victory, I go into the basement bedroom we have. I turn up my ipod and play Aaron Copland’s ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’. I look into the mirror and give myself a congratulatory few words, facial expressions, hand gestures and all around goofyness! I laugh at myself and cheer myself on ….. the feeling is silly, but actually it makes me feel happier and charged up.
So, don’t forget to stop, get up, and celebrate your victories!
